The Challenge

Our client is one of the largest fruit and vegetable producing companies in the Netherlands, is implementing a strategic project featuring a partly automated citrus sorting line. The client has tasked Group Moovs with designing a training program for the sorting line operators. This program will provide operators with the required knowledge and skills and include reference materials for ongoing use. They use various tools to train and support operators, and this new training will integrate with these existing tools to ensure well-trained, efficient operators.

Target Audience: Operators of the Citrus sorting line.

Project Goal:

  • Ensure operators can monitor and control the established sorting process and software systems
  • The training program is the follow up to an onboarding eLearning course.

Learning Environment for Citrus Sorting Operators:

  • Work hours training: The job training is conducted during working hours and is designed for anyone, with or without experience, working as a Citrus Sorting Operator.
  • Completion Time: The training is designed to be completed in 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Core Elements: The training environment integrates learning materials, students (operators), and supervisors. Supervisors create a socially safe environment, adopt an investigative attitude, and convey learning material effectively without compromising content.

Our Solution

We developed a blended training program designed to be completed in 2 to 4 weeks, consisting of the following components:

  • eLearning modules: Covering all essential aspects of the Citrus sorting process, including interactive exercises, detailed animations and videos.
  • Training-on-the-job: Workplace assignments, hands-on training to reinforce theoretical knowledge.
  • Instructions for trainers: A comprehensive set of instructions for supervisors how to give training-on-the-job to the newly assigned operators

The training's objective is to convey important operating principles in the most understandable way possible. The program combines theory and practical learning, ensuring that all Citrus Sorting Operators, regardless of their prior experience with automated sorting of natural products, are adequately prepared.

This comprehensive solution ensures that employees are well-prepared to work on the Citrus sorting line, understand the importance of quality and safety, and are confident in their roles.

Result

The client has expressed satisfaction with the quality and innovative approach of the blended training program. The program is now being used for all new Citrus Sorting Operators, ensuring a consistent and effective learning experience.

Following the success of this initiative, Bakker Barendrecht can use this program as a blueprint for developing further functional training courses.
